Canonet QL 17 GIII - The First Roll 01/23/2012

This Canon rangefinder was very popular during the 60's and 70's.  This particular model was on the higher end of the series.  The quick load feature (QL) allowed a photographer to load film very fast, even in the dark.  The camera is set to shutter priority.  This means, after setting the appropriate shutter speed according to the light meter, the camera would then choose the aperture setting best suited for the scene.

There is also a flash that worked specifically with this camera called the Canonlite D.  When the flash is installed on the hotshoe; the camera communicates directly with the flash, and the appropriate output needed for a low-light scene is chosen for the photographer automatically.  There is no need for those pesky guide numbers.  This was revolutionary technology for the time, and I am proud to own such a fine specimen.

I have yet to develop my test roll from this camera at this time.  Please stay tuned.
